Spanish hotel chain Meliá Hotels has a fantastic gift for healthcare workers battling the coronavirus: it’s giving away 10,000 two-night hotel stays to 10,000 frontline medical staff.

The “nights for your days” offer, which runs until Monday 27 April, is a big thank you to those heroes who’ve worked tirelessly to save our lives. Says Meliá, it’s "the biggest solidarity campaign in the company's history, inspired by the most exceptional circumstances we have ever experienced”. Valued at 34,000 MeliáRewards points, the offer covers any Meliá Hotels wherever they are in the world, just as soon as the pandemic is over and the chosen hotel is open for business once more.

To request stays, health workers must fill in a form on melia.com with their details, and then have to show proof they are indeed medical staff when they check into the hotel they book.

There are currently 13 Meliá hotels that have been converted into pop-up hospitals, 11 of them in Spain. The Meliá Luxembourg and Innside Manchester hotels have remained open at this time, supporting local authorities. Said Executive Vice President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International Gabriel Escarrer: Every day we see how healthcare professionals go out of their way to professionally and humanely fight the disease, and that's why, in addition to offering our facilities to be used as hospitals, we also want to offer them the excitement of looking forward to a well-deserved rest in a hotel of their choice when all this is over".

Meliá Hotels International was founded in 1956 in Palma de Mallorca, and remains the leader in the Spanish market. One of the largest hotel companies in the world, it has more than 380 hotels in over 40 countries and four continents. The chain has a strong commitment to responsible tourism.
