Shangri-La is offering a selection of summer restaurant experiences and ‘Make-A-Wish Come True’ stays to support Make-A-Wish Internationally

A private baklava butler service and honey-infused treats made from a beehive are just two of the delights on offer for guests who donate to Make-A-Wish International this summer, via the Asian hospitality brand, Shangri-La.

The award-winning hotel group has paired up with the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization to offer amazing summer restaurant experiences in select hotels across the Middle East, Europe, India, the Indian Ocean, and Canada.

The Shangri-La Group, which has over 80 deluxe hotels and resorts at destinations around the world, announced their partnership with Make-A-Wish International on World Family Day, May 15, and their dedicated summer experiences run until mid-October. Each hotel booking guarantees a percentage of the proceeds towards the foundation, founded in 1980, and which has granted more than 520,000 wishes to children with critical illnesses in almost 50 countries around the world.

Participating hotel guests can enjoy special local treats inspired by each hotel’s destination, such as the private baklava butler service at Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul, and honey treats at Shangri-La Toronto, from the hotel’s very own beehive.

London-based guests will be treated to ‘star cakes’, crafted with chocolate from Borough Market at Shangri-La, The Shard, London. While a sweet and savoury ‘Local Love’ delicacy is available at Shangri-La Bengaluru in India.

Meanwhile, specially created ‘restaurant experiences’, which donate a minimum of five percent of proceeds from each booking to the charity, include a five-course tasting menu at TING at Shangri-La The Shard, London, and afternoon teas in locations such as Bangalore, Istanbul, New Delhi.

In addition, a handmade tiger toy will also be produced for World Children’s Day on 20th November, with all the proceeds donated to Make-A-Wish. The following year, in January 2023, mystical wishing trees will spring up across select Shangri-La hotels, to celebrate Chinese New Year.

“Family has always been at the heart of Shangri-La and we are delighted to be partnering with Make-A-Wish International to help raise awareness and funds for the amazing work they do for children and families around the world,” said Elena Mendez, Shangri-La’s VP Marketing (F&B) and Corporate Communications, MEIA. “We hope by working together we can help make every child’s Shangri-La come true.”

Added Luciano Manzo, Make-A-Wish International President & CEO, “Staying at Shangri-La hotels is a dream come true for many of our Wish Children. A wish brings hope and joy to the children and their families and has life-changing power. We look forward to granting many more of these wishes for the children thanks to Shangri-La’s support in the MEIA region.”
