Let your festive cheer extend to the environment and the community with a new sustainable Christmas tree initiative that aims to minimise eco-impact while offering job support to musicians rebuilding their careers after lockdown.

Launched by the London-based team behind Plantsavers, which saved over 300,000 plants from going to waste and raised 20,000 for charity during the pandemic, Green Elf Trees will be offering sustainable Christmas trees this year - and free delivery to homes in and around Greater London.

Partnering exclusively with British christmas tree growers and offsetting delivery carbon emissions, the evergreen initiative also gives customers the choice of a range of decorations based on natural materials to decorate their top-notch trees with if they wish (the growers used by Green Elf already have satisfied customers that include the Crown estates and The Ritz hotel in London) .

For each tree ordered, Green Elf will donate £3 to a charity (Mind, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, Crisis, Dogs Trust or Age UK), and after the trees have twinkled their way into January, its Responsible Tree Removal Service ensures they are disposed of through composting or up-cycling, closing the loop on a notoriously wasteful holiday.

Forward-thinking circular economics doesn’t come with a bah humbug price tag either: trees from Green Elf start from £54.99, including free delivery - and the launch of an early bird sale this week gives organised Christmas elves the chance to order their pick of the trees in the run-up to December.

Founders Matt Bouloux and Caleb Silcock are confident that Green Elf can make a real impact in the community and help to lighten the load on the environment this Christmas. “As London continues to rebuild in the midst of the pandemic, our mission is to help households be cheerful during the festive season, support local charities and provide opportunities for those who need it most,” says Bouloux.

“It’s a time of year that should be joyful, so we’re doing our best to end the year on a high note.”
